Nestled in the beautiful Kent village of Thurnham, Mr & Mrs Lowe knew they’d found their perfect home when they came across a stunning five-bedroom property built and designed with quality at the forefront of the specification. With views extending over the North Downs, the Lowe’s property is both spectacular and inviting, with a unique design built into the natural gradient of the plot. As Mr Lowe explains: “as soon as we viewed the property we knew it was exactly what we wanted. The specification is incredibly high and we have lots of space but it was the views from the rear of the property that sold it to us.”
The couple moved into their home in May 2017 and very quickly made the decision to add a luxurious glazed extension to their property. Mr Lowe adds: “it wasn’t that we needed the extra space, we just wanted to be able to truly maximise the views from our home year-round. No matter what the weather is doing we wanted to be able to really bring the North Downs into our living space, with such incredible views, it just felt so right to make the most of the Kent countryside.”
Mr & Mrs Lowe approached Britelite keen to explore the best solution for a glazed extension. Dominic Baxter from Britelite explains why Loggia from Ultraframe was the right solution: “Mr & Mrs Lowe’s property lends itself to the grandeur of a modern orangery with maximum glazing to really frame the views. It was important that the design features floor to ceiling glass and large bi-fold doors to really achieve a sense of openness. Even on a gloomy day, the Loggia allows the couple to enjoy the ever-changing landscape from the comfort and warmth of their home.”
The design features a fully glazed roof with two vents with help with air circulation. The glass also features a blue tint which not only makes the sky appear brighter but also brings the practical benefit of reflecting the sun’s rays. The Loggia also features an internal pelmet which houses a number of spotlights giving the couple really flexible lighting options. The exterior also features a two-tier Cornice which not only brings practical benefits of hiding the guttering but also ties in nicely with the detailing on the existing property. As well as running the kitchen flooring into the Loggia, the couple has also opted for an electric UFH system to give them maximum flexibility when it comes to heating the space.
The finished result is stunning and has given the Lowe’s the perfect room to enjoy the Kent countryside. Mr Lowe concludes: “when we bought this property it was our dream home, but with the addition of the Loggia, it’s enabled us to truly maximise the views of the countryside in all seasons. I can’t thank Britelite enough, their craftsmanship and attention to detail have made this entire process a joy, and as for our Loggia, it’s the icing on the cake.”
