Learning
Apprentices learn engineering skills and processes under the guidance of experienced manufacturing engineers. They observe, study, and shadow engineers, and work on real-world projects including, Continuous improvement, NPI, Jig and tool design, manufacture line support, cost analysis, and quality improvements
Working
Apprentices start by completing tasks under supervision, and gradually take on more responsibility. They may work independently or with a team, and contribute to the department.
Recording
Apprentices keep a logbook of their projects and the skills they learn.
Studying
Apprentices may study in a classroom or in-house, alongside other apprentices.
Assessment
Apprentices have regular meetings with a supervisor to discuss their progress and receive feedback.
Some other responsibilities of an engineering apprentice include: Installing systems, work on real-world projects including, Continuous improvement, NPI, Jig and tool design, manufacture line support, cost analysis, and quality improvements.
